JayBird presenting a plaque to Kirby for his many years of dedication to the 80th and Country. Kirby was just out of the hospital and wasn’t doing well. He and Penny Wilson, who was a friend he met on the Internet aviation web sites and who was a major contributor to his recovery, put this “mini-reunion” together on short notice–almost as a way for Kirby to say goodbye. However, he continued to recover, and lived years more thanks to Penny and another friend he met on the Internet, Dr. Larry Simpson.
