Andrew Watry (son)

If I remember our history correctly, the 80th was in Yokota Japan and was due to be deactivated, but was moved to Kunsan under the 3rd Wing (which was deployed to various stations in Korea at various times) and re-staffed with pilots from (mostly) the 391st Fighter Squadron from the 3rd Wing

Col Watry assumed command of the 3rd from Col Abner Aust on 17 Nov 1971. He was a LTM. His son, Andrew had just sent some of his Dad's memorabilia to our Historians Driver Mac and Stroker in late February. It is being catalogued as we speak.

We met Col Aust at the Chino reunion in 2013. He was mentioned in the Newsletter (May 2013)

More information to follow. Updates as I receive them.

Update 3/2/17: Funeral at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale CA, Wed March 8, 2 pm. for information contact his son, Andrew: Andrew.Watry@lexisnexis.com
