  1. Lt William F. “Romeo” McCrystal flew his F-51 #FF-801 and was the one who wrote the legendary Fighter Pilot song “AF 801” better known as “Itazuke Tower” while he was stationed there in the 80th Headhunters Sq in late1948. Another of our fellow Headhunters, world renown balladeer Dick Jonas, discovered this when he and his wife Mary visited the USAF museum at Wright-Patterson AFB in 2002.
